Andra's Lesson 1: Your Canon and You

Alright. Yes, I'm running this one, because I think that this is the most important part of an RP site that allows canons.

In order to properly use your canon, you must have some knowlege of the animé, manga, etc. that your canon is from. This means, you've seen as least ten episodes with your character, or read fifty pages, or whatever. While you can know nothing about the canon and look on Wiki or some other site to get a general idea, this won't help you completly.

Some of you may be thinking, "What does she know? She doens't have a canon!" To you, I say, "Shut the hell up." I have RPd several canons, among them, Tenten, Temari, Gaara, Zabuza, Itachi, Hinata, and Orochimaru. I understand the importance of knowing what your canon's personality and such are.

Now, when using a canon, it's also important to keep in mind that your posts not only affect your canon, but the people who RP the canons that stay in touch with yours. For example, if you post a small post such as this:

Hinata sighed, looking up at the clouds, and wondering where Shino was.

That post isn't quite right. Here's why.

Hinata isn't the one who normally looks at the clouds; Shikamaru is.
Why would Hinata wonder where Shino was?
This thread gives only Shino something to reply with, and the most he could do was just have Shino come up and say hi.

A more proper post would be something along these lines:

Hinata sighed as she walked through the streets, her hands behind her back, her head down as she stared at the road, kicking a pebble as she walked. Her raven locks were falling over her shoulder, and she was slightly depressed. She and Naruto had seemed to be getting along so well lately, and now she hadn't heard from him. Could he have left on a mission and not told her? She shook off the thought immediatly. He would have told her, right?

The young Hyuga then looked up, her chin set, and a newfound determination lurked behind her silver eyes. She wouldn't worry about Naruto! He was a strong ninja, and he could take care of himself. With that thought to reassure her, she turned the corner and continued to walk, the wind carressing her face.

There's a better post. Canons! Use the below template and show me what you got.

Character Name: Hinata Hyuga

Setting: The afternoon at the ramen shop.

Involved Characters: Naruto, Kiba.

Mood: Anxious, nervous, slightly embarrassed as always

RP Post: Why was she here? What on Earth possessed her to do this? These were the questions that Hinata asked herself, while standing in the door of the ramen shop looking for Naruto. In one hand she held a gift basket and in the other she held a tiny envelope that said For: Naruto on the front. The envelope was an invitation to Hinata's 16th birthday party. She didn't even want a party, but Kiba insisted on having one. She politely refused, but he proceeded to throw her one anyways. Sighing she scanned the crowd until she focused on a patch of messy blonde hair. Naruto! Her heart lept up into her chest.

The shy Hyuga slowly waddled across the crowded ramen shop, clutching the invite and the gift basket in her sweaty palms. Alright Hinata...you can do this! Just give it to him! Don't faint...don't...faint! Her feet seemed to trudge foreword without her noticing, but how could she? Her pale lavender eyes were fixated on those gorgeous blonde locks, that slim muscular frame, and those sapphire blue eyes that she'd gazed in so many times. Before she knew it, Hinata was standing right in front of him! "N-Naruto! Erm...I was wondering if maybe you'd like to...erm...come to this?" She gulped, then handed him the invite and gift basket. "I mean..uhh...If you have other plans, or just don't want to, I understand."

Character Name:Neji Hyuga

Setting:Forest/ Hyuga Household

Involved Characters: Rock Lee, Gai, TenTen, Hinata, and Hiashi.

Mood: Calm, Cool, and a bit off a show off.

RP Post: Neji and TenTen breathed heavily as weapons where scattered everywhere. Neji stood in a form in which indicated that he had finished a heavily spin"Come on Neji Let's head back to Gai and Lee," TenTen said as he nodded. They began to walk to the area where Gai and Lee had trained as the weapons disappeared in a cloud of smoke. As they reached the area his eyes meet Lee who was kicking at a post as Gai talked to him"That's it Lee keep working at it, go past your limits and keep on going," he said in a macho voice "Yes sir!" he said as he continued kicking the post as his feet were actually sore and little wood chips flew off.

TenTen and Neji both grew a sweatdrop as they had been tired themselves and couldn't possily go on at this point. "Leave it to Gai to make Lee train like that," Neji said in a low and calm voice as he closed his eyes. "Hey Neji after this let's fight!" Lee said not even looking at Neji as he continued. "What's the point, you can't beat me especially in your current condition" he said with his eyes still close as a small smirk appeared on his face. "Stop it you too. Neji, If you and TenTen are done you may leave." Gai said to them.

"Alright, Later Gai, Later Lee!" TenTen said in a perky voice as they began walk towards her house. As they arrived she waved"Bye Neji-san," she said with a smile as he looked at her"Later," his voice said sounding normal as he walked to the Hyuga Household. He entered as he saw Hiashi and Hinata training as he walked passed them"Hi Neji-san," Hinata in a shy voice as they finished. "I'll be in my room," he said in a voice that said 'I don't wish to be disturbed anytime today'. He opened the slide door as he put on his clothes to sleep and got into his bed and closed his eyes as he soon feel asleep.

Not too bad overall, I suppose... Here it goes: Be prepared.

Alright! Every spot marked with a number is a mistake that I saw. Either spelling or grammatical errors.

My main concern was 16. That didn't make any sense to me at all.

The main thing I can say is remember: Spaces, fragments, and run-ons. Put one to two sentences between each sentence. If the next sentence is a quote, or dialouge, you still need one or two spaces.

Mmmm... I'll give you one more chance.

Character Name: Kashikyo.

Setting:hidden leaf village, Orochimaru's place, and Ryu's house.

Involved Characters: Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Orochimaru, and some guy named Ryu.

Mood:Calm, worried, and amused.

RP Post:
When Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakure were walking a girl ran in to them she said she was sorry and went on running.
Naruto asked "What's wrong with her?"
"She looked worried as if she was in trouble" replied Sakura. Sasuke started running after her,of course, Sakura and Naruto followed after him. Once they caught up with him they asked what's wrong.
Sasuke said "There's something weird about her."
"well of course she just ran into us!" said Naruto.
"Naruto you idiot!" said Sakura. They continued following her untill they came up to a house. The girl stoped and knocked on the door. Someone with black long hair and white skin answered the door; and gave her an envelope and then she pushed back the long hair it was Orochimaru! She kissed him on the cheek, the three of them were surprised and disgusded!

The girl was off again. they followed once more. The girl came to a house, they watched as she went inside. Naruto found a window that they could look through. They saw her put the envelope on a table then the girl hid. a man came into the room, saw the envelope and opened it. the man seened scared. the girl appeared behind the man.

she said "Ryu the time has come" with a smerk. she wraped her tounge around the man and then out of her mouth also came a sword. Naruto saw this and thought that only Orochimaru could do it, he was wrong. She pulled the man in so fast that he didn't have time to scream for help. blood splattered on the window. tears went down Sakura's face, they were all scared.
Then behind them came a voice, "what are you doing?". they turned around, only to find the girl who killed that man. she said again "what are you doing here?". Then as she looked at Sasuke she seemed a little happy then she looked at Naruto and then she wraped her toung around him.
"hey what's your deal?!" asked Naruto. She lifted his shirt to look at his seal.
"Hmmm" she said, "you are the nine tail fox no doubt."
"what's it to you?" asked Naruto.
"everything" she replied. then she put not only the same seal Orochimaru, did before but another. "this'll keep you busy" she said with a smerk. Sasuke and Sakura finally went after her. Then, out of her sleeve came 2 long snakes. The snakes wraped around them both untill they couldn't move. "I am Kashikyo from the house hold of Orochimaru himself." She said. Sasuke seemed to recignize her now.
"what is it Sasuke?" asked Sakura in pain from the snakes.
"S..she is from my... clan."said Sasuke.
"how?" asked Sakura.
"she was only a baby when someone took her. She was the one who was going to stop Orochimaru, for good. but at a picnic he came... and stole her." said Sasuke.
"didn't anyone notice?" asked Sakura.
"no" answered Sasuke.
"everyone at that picnic was too weak anyways." Said Kashikyo, still holding Naruto."Orochimaru is my father now, my old one was too weak." She said. "Here, this is your's" She said while trowing Naruto at them. "I'll be seeing you" She said as the snakes went back into her sleave. "Brother." She said smiling.Sakura was surprised at this, while Naruto was unconcous.
Sakure asked "Is she really you sister?".
"yes" answered Sasuke. "I was suposed to watch her while the others play. I was jealous and mad. I went to play with them, not thinking. Then when I went back everyone looked mad at me. The I saw that she was gone.", A tear went down Sasuke's face, "it's my fault! The leaf village is in danger because of me!".
"Don't say that!" said Sakura, "it's nobody's fault. Wile she's gone, let's go." They left with many still unanswered questions.
